The Ezekiel Project Plan
Obstacles to Overcome:
We have a purchase agreement in hand for the building at $425,000. After down-payment and closing costs, approximately $100,000 will be needed up front. Additionally, it has been estimated that another $350,000 or more will be needed to remodel the space. Furthermore, the time of volunteers will be consumed by the remodeling.
One corner of the building is currently occupied and rented by Giant Wash Laundry. The Laundromat is interested in continuing to rent the space. Alongside the business renting the café area during the week, it is projected that most of the building's mortgage will be paid.
A Plan to Make the Vision a Reality:
The down payment of $100,000 will be raised through 5 major donors at $10,000 each with the Rockers raising $50,000 through personal giving (100 people give $500 each), fundraisers and support letters to parents, family and friends.
The remodeling costs of $350,000+ will be raised through the community element of Stonebrook Community Church. The church will then mortgage the rest of the expense to purchase the building, feeling that it could easily assume the mortgage payment, if necessary.
A team of impassioned and skilled individuals has been assembled to oversee the acquisition and remodeling of the building. The name The Ezekiel Project reflects life resurrecting out of a valley of dry bones (Ezekiel 37: 1-14).
